Dear Travis families,
The 5th grade team received feedback that a general outline of upcoming important deadlines for IP would be helpful for ensuring students are progressing appropriately. We met as a team and mapped out these deadlines for the year, but please be aware that some of the later due dates are loose deadlines and will depend on the pace at which students work.
I will do my best to post all of the instructions that students receive for IP assignments on my website. Below is the general outline of the deadlines.

December 18th – Minimum of 70 notecards due.

January 25th – Outline due. Our hope is that students will be able to work on their outline during the afternoon on the days of ACP testing. We will communicate those days as they get closer and we have more information.

3rd 6 weeks – Short Story Project (Mrs. Tillman will assign as reading project; has not been assigned yet or given a due date)

4th 6 weeks – Poem Project (Mrs. Tillman will assign as project during 4th 6 weeks)

Once students have completed their outline, they will then begin on their research paper. Their outline will be used as a guide for this assignment. Their research paper will be due sometime around Spring Break, but a hard deadline has not been set yet. Mr. Oathout will be guiding them through the research paper and will set the due date for this assignment later in the year.
Their final project for IP Night will be a tri-fold board that shows off their work. We will share the expectations for their boards and for their presentation as we get closer to the date. We have requested an IP Night date and are waiting to get confirmation from administration before sharing with parents. Once we are given the green light, we will share our IP Night date with you all.
